Alexander Baird autobiography
The Alexander Baird autobiography was edited and arranged by his granddaughters Delores Hopkins Woodland and Marilyn Baird McArthur. Baird (1832-1915) was born in Paisley, Scotland. His autobiography narrates his sailing adventures around the globe, his conversion to the LDS Church, and life in Utah.

Thomas Hart Benton letters
The Thomas Hart Benton letters (1846, 1852) contain correspondence from Benton. In the first letter, Benton suggests that the one to two thousand Americans who were in Northern Mexico be taken in with Col. Kearney's troops and used to protect the Santa Fe route. In the second, Benton thanks Professor Lubin for recommending Great Basin be renamed after Benton's son-in-law, the explorer John C. Fremont.

The Lettie Dewey Campbell personal narrative [photocopy of transcript] provides an account of her return to New York from an LDS mission in Scotland. During the voyage her ship was struck by an iceberg. Also included is a photocopy of a newsclipping regarding the event.

The Butch Cassidy collection (1984-1986) contains manuscripts, articles and a letter that relate to the life of "Butch Cassidy" whose real name was Robert Leroy Parker,(1866-1908?). Cassidy is one of the most famous American bank and train robbers. Butch was associated with the "Wild Bunch" and "Hole in the Wall" Gangs.
Charles Cather letter
The Charles Cather letter (1870) consists of one three-page letter, in photograph format, from Cather to his sister, Jinnie Cather. Cather writes of his adventures prospecting through the "Western Wildes" of Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, and Kansas.
John W. Dawson article
This John W. Dawson article is entitled the "True Story of What Happened on the Santa Maria: the Ethics of Revolutionaries." John W. Dawson was a passenger turned hostage onboard the Santa Maria a Portuguese liner which was taken over by revolutionary Henrique Galvao in 1961.
