Gullick was a poet, writer, and philospher. He taught writing and instructed high-school dropouts and developmentally delayed children. He edited newsletters, and was the director of the Crossroads Youth Hostel.

The Stanley Smith ("Smitty") Stevens papers (1934-1981) contain biographical information, articles, and other publications. He went on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1925-1928 to Belgium and Switzerland. Stevens received a Ph.D. in 1933 from Harvard University. He later became a professor and the director of the psychophysics laboratory at Harvard University.
