Biographical Note

Durrant Whittmore Gullick (1948-1996) was a poet, a writer, and a philosopher. He taught writing, and instructed high-school dropouts and developmentally-delayed children. He edited newsletters, and was the director of the Crossroads Youth Hostel. He loved to cook, attend art events, and hike in the great outdoors. When he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and after significant personal debate, he decided to take his own life rather than burden those he loved with his incapacity. He commited suicide in 1996.

The Durant Whittmore Gullick papers (1963-1996) contain his poetry and short stories, school and college work, as well as his correspondence, resumes and personal ephemera. Gullick was a poet, writer, and philospher. He taught writing and instructed high-school dropouts and developmentally delayed children. He edited newsletters, and was the director of the Crossroads Youth Hostel.
