Dorothy Shepherd Van Stipriaan papers

Abstract

The Dorothy Shepherd Van Stipriaan papers (1876-1984) consist of personal and family materials. Included are handbills, artwork, announcements, flyers, poetry, religious materials, and Dorothy's unpublished master's thesis. Dorothy Van Stipriaan (1909-1976) was a member of Salt Lake City's prominent Shepherd family. She was appointed head of the library's Fine Arts Department in 1966.

Eliza R. Snow letters and histories of charitable societies in Utah

Abstract

The Eliza R. Snow's histories of charitable societies in Utah collection (1876) consist of letters and historical reports, solicited by a Mrs. A.H. Smith and collected by Eliza Snow, from Utah's charitable societies. Reports were not submitted by some societies. Snow's own report on the LDS Church's Relief Society is probably the best summary statement on the role and activities of women in the LDS Church during the mid 19th century.

The Lethe Coleman Tatge papers (1928-1982) consist of diaries and scrapbooks relating to the life of Tatge, a long-time resident of Murray, Utah. Included is a scrapbook of letters by Tatge that were published in The Wasatch Wave. They relate to the various travels that she took and individuals from Wasatch County that she came in contact with. The diaries and scrapbooks are photocopies of the originals.

The Aurora Club records (1913-2013) consist mainly of meeting minutes, but also present are correspondence, directories, and other materials. The materials are in both photocopied and original format. The Aurora Club started out as a social sewing club in 1913 but grew to include other activities such as book readings, speakers, tours, and charitable projects.
