June Rose Harwood was born in 1904 to James Taylor and Harriet Richards Harwood in Paris, France. Both were interested in education and Kyle made it his career. June and Kyle were divorced in 1939. She married Mac McKinnon in 1941, divorced him in 1944, and then married Frank Spring in 1945. June taught school briefly at East High School, wrote poetry, sketched, and kept extensive diaries.
