Eliza R. Snow's histories of charitable societies in Utah collection
Collection
Identifier: MS 0313
Scope and Contents
The Eliza R. Snow's histories of charitable societies in Utah collection (1876) consist of letters and historical reports, solicited by a Mrs. A.H. Smith and collected by Eliza Snow, from Utah's charitable societies. Reports were not submitted by some societies. Snow's own report on the LDS Church's Relief Society is probably the best summary statement on the role and activities of women in the LDS Church during the mid 19th century. Also included are reports from Utah's Independent Order of Good Templars and the Ladies Benevolent Society of the Congregational Church, among others.
