The Lucy Mack Smith autobiography (1844-1845) contain two photocopies of a handwritten autobiography of Lucy Mack Smith (1776-1855). The autobiography was recorded by Martha Jane Knowlton Coray. Lucy Smith was the mother of Joseph Smith, the founder of the LDS Church.

The Albert King Thurber papers (1822-1877) contain transcripts of his autobiography and a partial diary. Thurber was convert to the LDS Church. He served several missions, including one to England in 1865. He was also a member of the Utah legislature, and later served as a delegate to the legislature.

Included are handbills, artwork, announcements, flyers, poetry, religious materials, and Dorothy's unpublished master's thesis. Dorothy Van Stipriaan (1909-1976) was a member of Salt Lake City's prominent Shepherd family. She was appointed head of the library's Fine Arts Department in 1966.
