Scope and Contents

The University of Utah AirMed Department video collection (1987-2006) consists of training and safety videos produced and collected by the air medical transport unit of the University of Utah healthcare system as well as coverage relevant to that organization in local and national news broadcasts. Each of the 50 VHS videocassettes in the collection has been digitized and is available for viewing on one of the 25 DVDs detailed in this finding aid.

Historical Note

Eestablished in 1972, the University of Utah's AirMed program was only the eigth such program in the nation. Although AirMed is based at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, its small fleet of helicopters and turboprop airplanes operate from locations in Salt Lake City, Park City, Orem, Ogden and Rock Springs, Wyoming.
