Biographical Note

Ken Sleight grew up in Bear Lake, Idaho near the Utah border. He served two years in the army and saw combat in Korea with the 48th Field Artillery Battalion. When he was discharged from the service, he returned to the West, graduated from the University of Utah in 1955, got married and took a job with the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company initially in the accounting department and then as a Manager/Trainee in Logan. In 1955, Sleight began taking private trips through Desolation Canyon and into Glen Canyon. He later dedicated his life to river running and environmental causes.
