The Charles N. Strevell papers (1894-1943) contain correspondence, family history, essays, speeches, publications, art work, posters, pamphlets, brochures, news clippings, and other related materials. Most of the collection deals with materials on dinosaurs, coal digging in Utah, political matters of the 1930s-1940s in the United States, Strevell's Museum, and Strevell's book: As I Recall Them.

Biographical Note

Charles N. Strevell was the son of Jason W. Strevell and Elizabeth Butler Kelly. In 1879, Strevell and his family moved to Miles City, Montana. Strevell married Elizabeth Crawford in 1881 in Pontiac, Illinois, and then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. He became well-known for his essay "Dinosauropodes," which was published several times during the 1930s.
