The Ezra Taft Benson autobiography (1846) consist of a historical sketch entitled "Brief History of Ezra Taft Benson," apparently written by Benson (1811-1869) after he became an apostle in the LDS Church. The sketch begins by describing his birth and childhood, then ends with his appointment to the Council of the Twelve Apostles.

Biographical Sketch

Ezra Taft Benson was born on 22 February 1811 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He married Pamelia Andrus in 1831 and nine years later, they were baptized into the LDS Church. He was appointed to the Council of the Twelve Apostles in 1846, served many missions, and presided over the Church in Cache Valley, Utah. His great-grandson, Ezra Taft Benson, served as the thirteenth president of the LDS Church.
