The Salt Lake Issei Center was opened in 1970 to provide support and entertainment for aging Japanese American first-generation immigrants in Utah.

William Utaka "Bill" Yoden (1916-1989) was a Japanese-American veteran of World War II. He and his wife, Mary Nishisaki Yoden (1920-2011) lived with their family in Blackfoot, Idaho. This collection contains copy print portraits: of Bill Yoden in the Army and of a relative of Mary Nishisaki Yoden.
Yamashiro family photograph collection
Shoichi Yamashiro and Tsuruyo Nakanishi Yamashiro emigrated to Utah from Japan in the early 20th century and raised their five children in Devil's Slide and Kaysville, Utah before the family relocated to California in the 1950s. This collection consists of photograph ablums and prints collected and created by members of the Yamashiro family and depicting their experiences
