Willis Carl Nugent and his wife Pearl Graul Nugent worked as Protestant missionaries in Japan beginning in the 1920s. In 1942, they moved to Delta, Utah, to minister at the Central Utah Relocation Center, or Topaz. This collection contians photographs, postcards, and cards documenting the Nugents' work at Topaz and serving as missionaries in Japan dating from 1927 to 1951.

Originally known as the Ogden Union Church and then as the Ogden Japanese Christian Church, the Ogden Christian Church was founded in 1927 to serve the needs of the Japanese immigrants in the Ogden area. In addition to religious services, the church offered various social supports, programs, and events. This collection contains black-and-white and color photographs of the congregation, programs, and events dating from 1931 until 2019.
