Scope and Contents
The Timothy Treacy photograph collection consists of 2 boxes contianing 71 images collected by Timothy Treacy and depicting primarily ski history. The collection consists of black-and-white photograph prints and copy prints. A note included with Box 1 Folder 4, photographs dated from 1894, states that photos of skiing during this time period are "certainly quite rare." The note was adressed to Treacy from Michael Dawson, an antiquarian bookseller.

Biographical / Historical
Timothy Edmund "Tim" Treacy was born in San Francisco, California on June 4, 1932. He earned an underraduate and a law degree from Stanford University and worked for the California Public Utilities Commission as their principal counsel. Treacy was an avid mountaineer, skier, runner, and traveler. Treacy was a member of numerous ski and outdoor associations, including: the Worldloppet Ski Federation, the Far West Nordic Ski Education Association, and Auburn Ski Club. He was a collector of material documenting ski history. Timothy Treacy passed away on October 5, 2015.
