Biographical Note
Robert Kent Fielding was born on June 30, 1920, in Spanish Fork, Utah to Clifford M. and Mary Adel Hallam Fielding. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served a mission in Texas from 1940 to 1942. Fielding obtained his BA and MA degrees from Brigham Young University between 1950 and 1952. He began his teaching career at Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah, before beginning teaching at Brigham Young University in 1952, where he taught until 1960. He obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Indiana. Fielding wrote books and articles about the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Utah. Robert Kent Fielding married Dorothy Stratton; together the couple had four children.
