The William John Silver papers consist of the biographical book of William John Silver as well as some excerpts of the Silver family. Included in the collection are some ephemeral materials that include business cards, some collected newspaper clippings and a book containing marginalia written by Silver.

Biological Note

William John Silver (1832-1918) was born in London, England and is best known for his influence in Salt Lake City, Utah as the frontrunner for the Silver Brother Iron Works (also known as Salt Lake Iron and Steel Company). Silver is also known to have built the first steam engine and the fence around Brigham Young's grave.
