Scope and Contents

The collection consists of materials relating to M. Neff Smart's involvement in starting school/community newspapers in Ghana. Included are correspondence, reports, and issues of The Densu Times distributed to students in rural Ghana (1974-1976). Also included are issues of The Akora New Era and a research report by Smart titled, A study of the effect of a school/community newspaper on literacy development among middle scholl students in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
