Organizational History

The Utah State Historical Society is a state agency charged with maintaining the state's historical record, exclusive of public records. It was, until the late 1970s, the states premier research library in Utah and Western American history. The activities of the society are overseen by the Board of Trustees, an appointive body, who set agency-level policy and priorities.
