Scope and Contents

The Gilbert R. Oberdas research paper (1969) is his senior seminar paper on the Voree Press, entitled "The Voree Press: February 1846 to June 6, 1850." According to Oberdas, the press was the official organ of the Church of the Latter Day Saints (Strangite) which had be founded by James J. Strang. Strang claimed to have been appointed successor as church president by Joseph Smith Jr., the original president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
