Scope and Contents

The Lorraine Sevcovic report (1975) consist of a study by Sevcovic titled "Traditions of Pregnancy Which Influence Child Care of the Navajo People." The report resulted from a nursing, maternal, and child health care project conducted by the University of Utah in Shiprock, New Mexico. It sought to study Navajo traditions concerning pregnancy and attempt to integrate Navajo customs into modern health care programs. Rosemary Knoki served as a consultant for the project.

Biographical Sketch

Lorraine Sevcovic graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She attended Columbia University's graduate program in Nurse-Midwifery around 1958 and served in various nursing graduate programs in New York, New Mexico, and Utah.
