Scope and Contents
The Nichiren Buddhist Temple records (1971-1991) contain correspondence, financial reports, membership records, the church newsletter, and other documents pertaining to the Nichiren Buddhist Temple. Box 1, folder 2 contains the "Nichiren Service Book," which contains services, songs, and sutras. Other material in this collection includes information on the NONA Trust Fund, copies of The Lotus newsletter, and news clippings recording special events, such as the periodic visits of Reverend Nichi Kanecko, a member of the Nichiren sect in Japan. Box 2, folder 3 contains Japanese language documents that appear to be newsletters and financial records.

Organizational History
The Nichiren Buddhist temple was operated in Salt Lake City by Yosh Ito and Reverend Kanai Skokai. There were more than two hundred members, a large percentage of whom were Japanese Americans.

The Nichiren Buddhist Temple records (1954-2003) contain correspondence, financial reports, membership records, the church newsletter, and other documents pertaining to the Nichiren Buddhist Temple. The temple (which dates from 1971-1991) was operated in Salt Lake City by Yosh Ito and Reverend Kanai Skokai. There were more than two hundred members, a large percentage of whom were Japanese Americans.
