Scope and Contents

The Thomas J. and Lydia H. Yates papers (1888-1985) contain materials relating to the Yates family, primarily to Thomas J. Yates. Included are a photocopy of an autobiography, a typescript biography, a bound autograph album signed by fellow prisoners while Thomas Yates served a sentence for polygamy in the Utah Territorial Penetentiary, 1890, and a manuscript by Thomas Yates on Indians and Mormonism. Also includes family correspondence (1890-1985).
