Superfund sites are areas that the federal government designates as environmentally contaminated and marked for remediation. The Superfund Records Center photograph collection contains photographs and negatives of soil sample areas from Superfund sites in Utah dating from the 1990s.

Swinyard was a pharmaceutical researcher and a professor of pharmacology at the University of Utah.
