Twins, Triplets, Quadruplets, and Extraordinary People, 1933-1935
File — Box: 5
Scope and Contents
The articles in this scrapbook are about twins, triplets, and quadruplets, but there are also many articles about abnormal situations. The scrapbook starts off with some articles about the Kasper triplets who were born prematurely in 1936. Their growth and development was closely documented in a similar manner to the Dionne quintuplets of Canada. The rest of the book is filled with similar articles that highlight interesting features of human life. There are stories about the first quadruplets to be born with a Caesarean operation, families with multiples sets of twins and triplets, families with large amounts of children, and families with five living generations. There are also articles about the famous Watkins-Bamberger baby mix-up of 1930, the world's tallest man, the world's lightest and heaviest babies, the first documented Siamese twins, the world's oldest humans, the world's oldest twins, limbless artists, quintuplets born in Argentina that were kept secret, and many other bizarre stories. Of local interest are the stories about Helen Keller's visit to Salt Lake in 1935.
