Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The John W. Summerhays Papers consists mainly of records and publications from Summerhays' time in the U.S. Army. There are a number of manuals and regulations related to the Selective Service, which Summerhays helped to coordinate. Summerhays was stationed in Europe during World War I and collected a sizable number of European postcards, both used and blank, which are included in the collection. Also included are a small number of clippings and other items commemorating Summerhays' opera singing career.
