Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The James S. Campbell papers (1928-1973) contain a transcript of the oral history of James S. Campbell and a handwritten copy of "The Lass o' Lasswade" by James Brookston (born 1855). The transcript is a copy of an oral interview conducted by Campbell's nephew, Fred Buchanan, on 9 March 1973. The paper with "The Lass o' Lass wade" poem provides a short account of James Brookston's life that was to be published with the poem in the February 1928 issue of The Improvement Era.
