Boxes 45-50 contain research documents, notes, and correspondence pertaining to river running, with a focus on river runners such as H. Elwyn Blake and Otis Marston. In addition, there are documents related to the exploration of the Grand Canyon and the Western United States, including papers related to explorers such as the Kolb brothers and C. H. Birdseye. Westwood used this wealth of research in the process of writing his book Rough-Water Man: Elwyn Blake's Colorado River Expeditions.
