The Thomas A. Blakely papers (1937-1985) consist of research materials used in the writing of a paper entitled "The Swearing Elders" presented by Blakely at the Sunstone Symposium, August 1985. The "Swearing Elders" were a group of mostly LDS university faculty under the leadership of Sterling M. The Sterling M. McMurrin papers (1830-2001) chronicle McMurrin's life as family man, student, educator, administrator, U.S. Commissioner of Education, philosopher, observer and critic of Western culture and religion, and participant in LDS culture. The papers (1830-2006) consist of correspondence, scrapbooks, daily planners, interviews, academic materials, governmental papers, speeches, lectures, publications, manuscripts, and awards.

The Mary Bennion Powell Muhs papers (1972-1973) contain letters from Muhs a former student to Sterling M. McMurrin, dean of the Graduate School at the University of Utah, asking McMurrin to preserve the story of her father's polygamous marriage after the turn of the 20th century and its effect on her family.
