The diverse pieces, signed by Richard B. Shephard, emphasize the fact that Shephard's patrons were notable writers and high-ranking individuals, including Frederick Dellenbaugh, William James Ghent, Myrtle Reed, Rear Admiral Winfield Scott Schley, and Booker T. Washington.
