Abstract The Edward Abbey audio collection (1981-1989) consists of audio recordings or public and published works of Edward Abbey, as well as his memorial service in 1989. Recordings of include Abbey's speech at the 'cracking' of Glen Canyon Dam in 1981 and the audiobook Freedom and Wilderness: Edward Abbey Reads from his Work. Edward Abbey was a noted author and environmental activist, much of whose work focused on the desert Southwest.

Abstract The D. J. Angus home movies (1932) consist of films taken on a vacation to the desert Southwest. Angus' footage includes scenes of notable parks and landmarks in Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. A native of Wisconsin, Donald James Angus was a self-educated electrical engineer who worked and taught in Indiana and Michigan.

Abstract The C. Gregory Crampton collection was donated to the University of Utah in 1990. The collection extensively covers the Southwest United States and Southern Utah, in relatively recent expeditions and in governement surveys around the turn of the century. The Colorado River system, its environment, and the before and after effects of the subsequent water management activities such as the Glen Canyon Dam are a large part of the collection.

Abstract The Malcom 'Moki Mac' Ellingson river running video collection (circa 1914, 1956-1963) consists of home movies of river trips in southern Utah and the vicinity, most frequently in the Glen Canyon area of the Colorado River. Several films contain footage of Native American towns and customs. The earliest film in the collection is a 16mm copy of a 35mm nitrate, intertitled film of boat trips on the Colorado River circa 1914.
