Saburo "Sam" Shimomura (1927-2009) was a veteran of the United States Army who was a Prisoner of War during the Korean War in the early 1950s. This collection contains 103 digital only images of Shimomura's military service dating from the 1950s and of a 2003 Veteran's Day event honoring Utah's Korean War veterans.

The Silver Brothers Iron Works was founded as the Silver Iron Works by William John Silver in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1862 or 1863. It was taken over and renamed by three of his sons around 1897; after it was foreclosed upon in 1915, the company was renamed the Salt Lake Iron and Steel Company while the Silver family left and founded a new company, the Ogden Iron Works, around 1916.
