Alice Lovina Manning papers

Abstract The Alice Lovina Manning papers (1883-1949) contain a paper written by Manning on women's rights in Utah, correspondence, newspaper clippings, a family history, report cards, and a biography. Manning (1877-1944), originally from Iowa came to Utah in 1897, she graduated from the University of Utah and was a teacher for several years. Eventually Manning became a legal secretary and she would go on to attain her law degree. Manning was honored as the fourth woman to be admitted into the Utah bar.

Abstract The Cyprian Marsh papers (1829-1996) consists of the diary of Cyprian Marsh (1829-1886), a certificate of ordination as an elder signed by Joseph Smith (1842), a history of family ownership of the diary, and loose notes thought to be written by Cyprian Marsh. Marsh was a convert to the LDS Church who fled Nauvoo in 1846 and came to Utah in 1853.
