Abstract The John Werner Welland papers (1951-2000) consist of materials that focus on Welland's career in the United States Air Force. Included are correspondence, diplomas, medical and personnel records, passports, death records, and other papers. Welland (1933-1991) was born in New York and was one of many who became known as an "Atomic Veteran" due his work for the Air Force during the atmospheric nuclear testing program carried out by the United States in the 1940s to 1960s.
