W. J. Goodwin papers

Abstract The W. J. Goodwin papers (1919, 1923-1924) contain a logbook which documents two trips in which Goodwin participated as a University of Utah engineering student. The first trip was a summer tour of U.S. National Parks and Canada. The second trip was a mining trip to California. Also included is a paper by Ethel Smith that discusses the Canadian Industrial Disputes Act of 1910.

Abstract The Hatch River Expeditions records contain correspondence, logs, employment records and oral histories from the Hatch family. Robert Rafael "Bus" Hatch and his brothers, Alton and Tom, began boating in the Vernal, Utah area in the late 1920s and formed Hatch River Expeditions, one of the best known river outfitters in the western United States.

Abstract The Leland Karr and Ada C. Irvine papers (1932-1998) contain documents related not only to his engineering profession but also to his hobbies and civic activities. Included are biographical documents, correspondence, meeting minutes, news clippings, certificates, a boating log, and other materials. Leland Karr Irvine was an adjunct professor of architecture at the University of Utah. He published several works on acoustical engineering.

Alberta Hunt Nicholson papers

Abstract The Alberta Hunt Nicholson papers (1940-1997) contain materials regarding Nicholson's involvement with aviation from 1940-1990. Nicholson (1914-2002) was one of the first women test pilots to fly for the United States Air Force. She was a member of the Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs) during World War II, from 1943 until the group was disbanded in 1944.
