W. Stewart Gardiner audio-visual collection
Scope and Contents
The W. Stewart Gardiner audio-visual collection (1939-1970) consists of 40 8mm films and 1 VHS tape with home movies concerning Gardiner’s career as a river runner, as well as other outdoor recreation activities by the Gardiner family, such as skiing, fishing, and hunting. Includes footage of Gardiner river running Lodore Canyon and Green River with Zee Grant in the late 1930s. This collection is digitized.

Biographical Note
W. Stewart ("Stu") Gardiner (1915-1997) was an early twentieth-century river runner, specializing in Utah's Green River. Further information on Gardiner can be found in an interview found in Accn 814, as well as in the book If We Had a Boat: Green River Runners, by Roy Webb.
