Scope and Contents
The Fern Flagler Peery photograph collection consists of 6 boxes. Box 1 is oversize and contains a portrait of Tana Hunter. Boxes 1-5 are archives boxes and contain black-and-white and color photographs and negatives of Fern Flagler Peery pictured with her family and friends. There are also a few disc film negatives (a type of Kodak film that was discontinued in 1988). There are black and white photos of Fern Flagler Peery’s childhood date back to 1926. Family members shown include Fern Flagler Peery's father Henry Flagler; siblings Beth Flagler, Robert Flagler and his wife Laverne, Bonnie Flagler and her husband Steve Howard, and Danny Flagler. Fern is also pictured with her first husband Frank Larson and her first two children Frankie and Brent. Photo album pictures depict her children throughout their lives from babies to adulthood, concluding with Frankie’s memorial. Also included are Frankie’s husband Thomas Brignand as well as Brent’s first wife Kay and his daughter Kimberly Flagler. Fern Flagler Peery's family after her marriage to Joseph S. Peery is included as well. Her children Tana and Teri are pictured along with her grandchild Tera Hunter. Additional subjects include: Fern Flagler Peery's garden and yard landscaping; her home on Foothill Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah; her Christmas trees; visits to several golf courses; and travel to national parks such as Yellowstone and the Sequoias Forest in San Francisco.

Biographical / Historical
Leona Fern Flagler was born 13 January 1917 in Elko, Nevada to Elizabeth Fisher and Robert H. Flagler. She was raised primarily in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was active in youth athletics, including track, basketball, and baseball. In 1936 she married Frank E. Larson Jr., and had two children, Frankie and Brent. The couple divorced sometime in the 1940s. Fern was married again in 1949 to University of Utah professor Joseph S. Peery and had two children, Teri and Tana. They divorced in 1991. Fern Flagler Peery was an avid golfer and gardener. She was president of the Neighborhood garden club and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Fern Flagler Peery died on 12 October 2009.
