Scope and Contents

This album was in need of preservation. The binding was cracking and the photos falling off the pages. These concerns were addressed by University Preservation in 2023. The photos were reattached to their pages where applicable, the album was unbound, and the pages were placed in sleeves.

The Mary E. Ferrari photograph album consists of 1 photograph album containing black-and-white snapshots and formal portraits dating from 1929-1930. Many photographs in the album have captions written in white ink by Mary E. Ferrari. The captions include name and place identifications of some individuals. Subjects include: Mary Ferrari and friends or coworkers; Mary Ferrari and pupils from the 1929-1930 school year; buildings around Green River, Utah, including the Presbyterian Church and the Metropole Motel, where Ferrari lived; outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking, and camping; Ferrari and friends dressed in costumes and clothes for dances and other local events; and scenery around Green River, Utah and other areas. In addition to Ferrari, photographs frequently depict her friends: Leah Ashton, Melba Stuart, Carl Thurman, and Jack Jacobus.

The album also contains several loose black-and-white photograph prints taken later in the 1940s. Though unidentified, these likely also relate to Ferrari's life and career.
