Scope and Contents

The Evangelical Free Church Young People's Conference album consists of 1 box containing 1 fabric-covered album with spiral-bound pages. The pages have a typewritten narrative in the style of a letter addressed to Miss Dia Roe and dated August 11-26 1944. The narrative is interspersed with black-and-white photographs and black-and-white commercial postcards. It describes a journey by four young women named Ruby, Harriet, Lois, and Liz (no last names given) from Chicago, Illinois to Colorado for the Evangelical Free Church Young People's Conference. Liz may refere to Elizabeth Anderson, a name provided on a telegraph included with the album. The group first stayed at Cliff House in Colorado Springs and visited a number of tourist destinations in the area; then they traveled to Estes Park before traveling to Greeley, Colorado for the conference. In Greeley, the group stayed with Mabel and Eleanor Peterson. After the conference, the group went to Denver, Colorado, where they stayed at the Shirley-Savoy Hotel while touring the city and socializing with acquaintances. In addition to the narrative and photographs, the album also contains tickets, stickers, and other Colorado-related ephemera.
