Scope and Contents
The Frank Leroy Byers photograph collection consists of 2 boxes containing 1,094 black-and-white and color photographs, negatives and postcards related to Byers' research and experience as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Topics include: missionary work, particularly the Western States Mission; historic sites in Missouri and Illinois; members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with their testimonies; and a photo album of Gilbert Zamora of Mexico. The collection also contains photographs of the Byers family and friends. Box 1 Folders 1-19 consist of negatives only.

Biographical / Historical
Frank Leroy Byers was born on June 21, 1936 in Los Angeles, California to Frances Amelia Koerner and George Shirley Byers. Frank Byers was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In the 1950s he served a mission in the Western States Mission. Frank Byers married Lillis June Rogers (1939-2020) in the Los Angeles California Temple on October 23, 1968. The couple lived in Orange, Norco, and Riverside, California. Around 1975, Frank and Lillis Byers moved to Nebraska to be closer to the area where Frank Byers had served his mission; they settled in Columbus, Nebraska before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1980. In Salt Lake City, Frank Byers worked in janitorial and delivery positions at Primary Children’s Hospital and the LDS Hospital. Lillis Rogers Byers worked for the University of Utah in reception and purchasing. Lillis Rogers Byers died on July 12, 2020.

Abstract
Frank Leroy Byers (1936 -) is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who collected material related to the organization of the Church into wards, branches and stakes, as well as material related to his personal involvement in the church. This collection contains photographs of the Byers family and friends; images of missionaries, including Frank Byers' experience as a missionary in the 1950s in the Western States Mission; images of Latter-Day Saint churches and historical sites; and photographs of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with their testimonies.

The content has been left in its original order, with the first half of box one being sorted by year and the rest by subject.
