Biographical Note
Arthur Clark Wiscombe was born October 12, 1928, to Arthur Newland and Blanch Clark Wiscombe, and was raised in the Uintah Basin, graduating from Alterra High School in 1946. Wiscombe met Doris Joy Myers at Brigham Young University (BYU); they married on May 28, 1948. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Wiscombe served as a full-time missionary in the North Central States mission. He received his undergraduate education from Brigham Young University, graduate degrees from Columbia University and Harvard University, and a doctorate in Education from the University of Colorado.
Wiscombe served as a teacher, principal, superintendent of Salt Lake City, Utah and Downers Grove, Illinois school districts. He also taught philosophy at BYU and the University of Utah. After retiring from his career in education, Wiscombe devoted his time to reading and writing, composing numerous essays, letters, and journals. Arthur C. Wiscombe died on October 9, 2011.

Arthur C. Wiscombe (1928-2011) was a Utah educator who worked as a teacher, principle, and superintedent of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Downers Grove, Illinois school districts. He also taught philosophy at Brigham Young University and at the University of Utah. This collection contains photographs of Wiscombe and his family dating from 1953 to 1994.
