Historical Note

Magna is a township in Salt Lake County, Utah. The Magna Times was a newspaper distributed in Magna and nearby communities of Kearns and West Valley City. The Magna Times was first published in 1923 and continued publication throughout the twentieth century. Beginning in 1972, the Magna Times was published by John Howard Stahle (1925-2016) and Bonnie Olsen Stahle (1931-2015). By 2008, changes to the newspaper business economically threatened the Magna Times and by 2014 the Stahles had ceased publishing the paper. Soon after, Richard Elliott revived the Magna Times, changing its publication schedule to weekly in 2015.
