The Joseph P. Surace photograph collection consists of 1 box containing 9 color photographs of the grave of Thaddeus Stevens (1792-1868) taken in 1991. Stevens was an American politician who opposed slavery and advocated for radical Reconstruction following the American Civil War.

Biographical Note

Joseph P. Surace was active in masonic circles in the states of Washington and Utah over the span of several years. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. An avid runner, Joseph participated in three Boston marathons. In 1982 he received a B. S. in secondary education from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
