Biographical Note
Ted Curtis Smythe was born on May 6, 1932. He received a Bachelor of Science from Sterling College in 1954, a Master of Science from the University of Oregon in 1962, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 1967. He worked as director of public relations for Sterling College between 1956 and 1960. After receiving his advanced degrees, Smythe worked as professor of Communication at California State University-Fullerton from 1963 until 1992. From 1993 to 1997, he served as a scholar in residence at Sterling College. He was a co-editor of Readings in Mass Communicationand numerous scholarly articles on journalism history.

Ted Curtis Smythe (1932-) is Professor Emeritus of Communications at California State University, Fullerton. This collection contains slides depicting etching and sculpture collected by Smythe in the course of his work.
