The Joseph S. Peery photograph collection consists of 6 boxes containing 4,445 color slides, postcards, and black-and-white and color photographs. Box 1 contains 2 panoramas. Boxes 2 and 3 contain images of Peery's travels, primarily dating from the 1960s. Box 4 contains postcards collected by Peery during his travels. Box 5 contains images of Peery, his family, life, and career. Box 6 contains images of San Diego, California. The collection dates from approximately 1990 to 2007.

Biographical Note
Dr. Joseph Smith Peery was born on February 6, 1911, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Julina Smith and Joseph Stras Peery. He married Phyllis Evans (divorced) and Fern Flagler (divorced). Peery graduated with honors from the University of Utah and went on to receive his Ph.D. at Northwestern University. He returned to the University of Utah to teach economics from the 1950s to the 1990s, and became Dean of the College of Business from 1974 to 1976. Peery earned many awards for his work as a professor of finance and economics at the University of Utah, including the Brady Superior Teaching Award in 1992. In addition to his work as an educator, Peery owned Seagull Drug in Sugarhouse; helped to establish an MBA program with the United States Air Force in Europe; authored the Tracy Trend letter; wrote editorials for KSL known as the "What's Right with America" series; and was one of the first men to run the middle fork of the Salmon River. Joseph Peery died on August 19, 2006 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
