Scope and Contents

The Tom Botterill Automobile Company photograph album consists of 1 box containing 1 photograph album. The album has 45 black-and-white photograph prints sized approximately 8x10. The images depict the Botterill Automobile building, business interior, and stock of automobiles. The album also contains a print depicting the Botterill company baseball team and a group of people, perhaps employees, at Lagoon Amusement Park. The photographs were taken by Harry Shipler of Shipler Commercial Photographers in Salt Lake City, Utah. The album was prepared by Shipler as a gift to Frank Botterill and is inscribed by Shipler to Botterill. The prints date from 1908 to 1934.

Historical Note

The Tom Botterill Automobile Company, later known as the Botterill Automobile Company, was located on 36-42 South State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was run by brothers Frank and Tom Botterill. The company sold a variety of vehicles including Dodge Brothers, Pierce Arrow and Hudson Cars. The company also operated a service station. The Botterill Automobile Company also had a location in Denver, Colorado, which was primarily operated by Tom Botterill, while Frank Botterill ran the Utah location.
