Biographical Note

Amanda Kumiko Kent was born in 1981. Raised in Idaho, she began riding horses at the age of 8. In 2003, she was crowned Miss Rodeo Idaho, the first Japanese American to hold this title. She attended the University of Idaho. Kent lives in Idaho, where she offers experience-based leadership training, teaches horse riding, and volunteers for 4-H. Kent has been involved with projects to collect and archive Japanese American experiences in Idaho through Pocatello/Blackfoot Japanese American Citizens League and Idaho State University.

Amanda Kumiko Kent (1981-) was the 2003 Miss Rodeo Idaho, the first Japanese American woman to hold this title. This collection contains 3 digital-only images of Kent as Miss Rodeo Idaho 2003, participating in a pole bending competition, and with her horse.
