Henry Clifford and Harriet Leona Myrup Hanson photograph collection
Collection
Identifier: P1206
Scope and Contents
The Henry Clifford and Harriet Leona Myrup Hanson photograph collection consists of 2 boxes. Box 1 contains photographs, stereoscopes, and albums from the Hansen, Hanson, Myrup, and Anderson families, with a focus on Henry Clifford Hanson and his family. Box 2 contains oversized portraits of Hanson and Hansen family members. The collection also contains a stereoscope viewer.
According to the donor, the family originally spelled their name "Hansen," but the clerk who filled out Henry's birth certificate misspelled it "Hanson." Henry Hanson and his descendents retained this spelling. Special Collections staff made an effort to preserve the two different spellings in the finding aid to distinguish which branch of the family the photographs primarily depict.

Biographical Note
Henry Clifford Hanson (1907-1990) was born on March 19, 1907 in Gunnison, Utah, to Hans Christian and Annie Nielsen Hansen. He grew up in Sterlin and was educated in Manti, Utah. Due to a misspelling on his birth certificate, Henry went by Hanson rather than Hansen. Henry married Harriet Leone Myrup (1906-1975) on August 27, 1932, in Richfield, Utah; the couple had two children. Leone was born on September 6, 1906, in Centerfield, Utah, to Lars Christian and Harriet Higham Myrup. Henry and Leone Hanson were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and were active in the Layton 8th Ward. Henry worked at the Hill Air Force Base near Layton, Utah, throughout his career, retiring in 1975. Leone Hanson died in 1975 and Henry Hanson died in 1990.
