This collection contain images of kayaking and river rafting in the Green River and personal photographs of the Gardiner family. The photographs are not labeled, but it is assumed that all photographs are of Stewart Gardiner and his companions during late 1930s. The color slides are of more modern kayakers and are also unlabeled.

Biographical / Historical
William Stewart "Stu" Gardiner (1915-1997) was an early twentieth-century river runner, specializing in Utah's Green River. Further information on Gardiner can be found in an interview found in Accn 814, as well as in the book If We Had a Boat: Green River Runners, by Roy Webb.
