Scope and Contents

The Students Against Apartheid photograph collection consists of images of signs, protests and displays put together by the SAA group on the University of Utah campus. The collection was donated by Alan Chandler, who was a collector of the materials and one of the spear-headers of the lawsuit on violations of free speech (which was won) against former U of U President Chase Peterson.

Twenty-four hour advanced notice encouraged. Materials must be used on-site. Access to parts of this collection may be restricted under provisions of state or federal law.

Abstract

The Students Against Apartheid photograph collection consists of images of signs, protests and displays put together by the SAA group on the University of Utah campus during political activity of the worldwide community to put an end to segregation in South Africa.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Gift of Alan Chandler.

Separated Materials

Manuscript materials were transferred to the Students Against Apartheid collection (ACCN 1311) located in the Manuscripts Division of Special Collections.
