This collection contains materials related to the mosquito control activities of Donald M. Rees. The majority of the collection deals with his activites in Utah, primarily with the success of mosquito abatement activities and the influences of climatic changes on these efforts. The collection also contains materials concerning his involvement with mosquito control activities at the Panama Canal and in Indonesia. A small portion of the collection relates to his activites at the University of Utah in the Department of Zoology and Entomology and the Institute of Environmental Biological Research.

Biographical Note
Donald M. Rees became a Professor of Zoology at the University of Utah in 1936. He served as Head of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology and Entomology from 1948 to 1963, Chairman of the Division of Biological Sciences from 1951 to 1965, and as Director of the Institute of Environmental Biological Research from 1960 to 1966. Rees retired from the University in 1970. He is known primarily for his work in mosquito abatement. The majority of this collection contains materials related to Rees' mosquito abatement activity. A small portion of the collection contains material relating to his career in the Department of Zoology and Entomology and the Institute of Environmental Biological Research.
